People who cannot swallow the capsule whole (such as infants or small children) should use the tablet form of the medication. I’ve been on Synthroid for over 15 years due to Hashimoto’s Disease and also partial thyroidectomy due to a nodule. For anyone who is on the medication and says they are feeling depressed, tired, etc. check into the symptoms of hypothyroidism/Hashimoto’s disease as it may be that your medication is not at the right dose. My doctor considers ‘normal’ TSH to be between 1 and 3 while the AMA lists it as between 1 and 5. When I am at a 4, I do not feel well and have all the symptoms. DON’T just STOP taking this medication on your own as you can have severe side effects, GO back to your doctor and discuss how you feel. I cannot take the generics as they do not work for me. Only SYNTHROID for me! (I’m on 225 a day!)
